    UU/NU Discussion - Page 3 342-2

    C-Band Crawdaunt
    Adamant Nature
    -Crabhammer
    -Crunch
    -Aerial Ace
    -Superpower
    252 Atk, 252 HP, 4 Def
    Shell Armor Ability

Choice Banded Crawdaunt. Nothing too special about it. I chose Shell Armor over Hyper Cutter because Crawdaunt obviously doesn't want to be taking critical hits at all.

    UU/NU Discussion - Page 3 15

    C-Band Beedrill
    Adamant Nature
    -Poison Jab
    -X-Scissor/U-Turn
    -Pursuit
    -Brick Break
    252 Atk, 252 Speed, 4 HP

Seeing an improved movepool with the 4th generation, Beedrill can be a decent Choice Bander. Poison Jab and X-Scissor give nice STAB moves, and Pursuit can be used for fleeing pokemon. You can go with U-Turn instead of X-Scissor if you wish, and it gives you the advantage of being able to switch right after you attack. Brick Break gives Rock coverage as well as a Super Effective move against Normal pokemon and Steel pokemon (Steel pokes resist Beedrill's other moves). You could also Replace either Pursuit or Brick Break with Aerial Ace to hit super effective on bug types and fighting types.

    Crit Hax Beedrill (Scope Lens)
    Adamant Nature
    -Focus Energy
    -Twineedle/Pin Missile
    -Fury Attack
    -Brick Break/Aerial Ace
    252 Atk, 128 Sp.Def, 124 HP, 4 Speed

Discovered this little set in LeafGreen when using Beedrill. His Special Defense stat actually has the same base as its attack stat (80), so you can put him in against a special sweeper or something that he'll scare away to set up Focus Energy. Then you use your attacks with multiple hits to annoy your opponents =D You can go with Twineedle over Pin Missile if you want a chance to poison your opponent. It is also more powerful than Pin Missile (25 power to Pin Missile's 14), but it can only hit twice. Brick Break is good on this set because it gets you Steel coverage (steel pokemon resist Fury Attack and Twineedle/P-Missile) as well as hits Rocks super effectively. Watch out for Ghosts if you go with Brick Break Roost can also be used to fill in the last moveslot if you so wish. I also believe that Beedrill should get Skill Link Ability >_<

Post by Shine Fri Jul 04, 2008 5:27 am

I'm doing something a little different this time, but similar to an older endeavor.

    Luvdisc
    Chimecho
    Kricketune
    Sandslash
    Farfetch'd
    Glalie

I've pretty much decided these are all TERRIBLE Pokemon, so of course... I have to make them into a team of their own, because I'm a freak like that.

Yes, I'm going to take these Pokemon and make them into a new UU/NU team, and hope for the best. I'll be in Tucson, AZ for the next week, but I'll try to get on Shuten occasionally to check on the progress of this little project. I've already got planned builds for all of these Pokemon, but I'm hoping to get some input.

I'm sure I want to keep Luvdisc and Kricketune on the team, but they're still arguable, and the other four maybe could be worse. Please make suggestions or argue the existing Pokemon for worse things, and I'll do what I can to make a not-so-suckish winning team from the bottom-most dregs of all things Pokemon.

See you all in a week, and happy Fourth of July!

Chimeco is a great support Poke in UU, and Sandslash isn't godawful like the other four.

Your logic is flawed, and this team lacks Dustox, Seviper and Spinda.

    Kricketune
    Glalie
    Spinda
    Seviper

How's this? I'd rather not use Dustox or Ariados because it'll give me THREE Fire weaknesses, and Fire's a pretty common attack type. Delibird gives me the same problem, as well as a third Electric weakness. Seviper might be the next best bet, and I happen to already have one raised, as well as Spinda. The rest will be easy to raise, as their EV spreads probably won't be anymore complicated than the basic 252/252/6.

... Come to think of it, I think I'll go ahead and make a new Seviper and Spinda since pretty much everyone already knows what they do. I have the technology. Razz

    Super Luck, Jolly/Admant
    252 Attack/252 Speed

    I've been checking.

I used Focus Energy on SOMETHING...hmm...o_0.

Edited >_>;. According to Ryu, I can't combine Focus Energy/Super Luck/Scope Lens anyways, as the crit rate maxes out after two of those.

After testing, I think Swords Dance might actually be a better substitute for Focus Energy...hmm.

    UU/NU Discussion - Page 3 057-3

Crit Hax Primeape @ Scope Lens
    Adamant Nature
    Vital Spirit Ability
    -Focus Energy
    -Cross Chop
    -Stone Edge
    -U-Turn/Aerial Ace
    252 Atk, 252 Speed, 6 HP

    C-Band Primeape
    Jolly Nature
    Vital Spirit Ability
    -Close Combat
    -Poison Jab
    -Earthquake
    -U-Turn/Aerial Ace/Return
    252 Atk, 252 Speed, 6 HP

Two sets using Primeape. First is a crit machine set taking advantage of Focus Energy and his two High crit-ratio moves, Stone Edge and Cross Chop. The dowmside is that both of these atacks only have 80 accuracy. U-Turn can be used for Psychic coverage, but you would have to switch out afterwards, and then set up Focus Energy when you come in again. Aerial Ace gives you a never-miss move and hits super effective against fellow Fighting types.

Second is a standard C-Band set. Feel free to mess around with the moveset if you wish. He is Jolly instead of Adamant because the C-band gives him sufficient attacking capabilities. His speed base stat is 95, so he is pretty speedy for UU.

Vital Spirit gets you out of sleep's harm, like insomnia. Use it to your advantage if you are good at prediction. Of course, you could always go with Anger Point Ability if you feel that you are in danger of coming across a crit machine, like the Absol mentioned above =) Just switch in on its attack (after baiting, of course) and then sweep or use Focus Energy respectively.

    UU/NU Discussion - Page 3 089-3

    Curse Muk @Leftovers
    Careful Nature
    Sticky Hold Ability
    -Curse
    -Shadow Punch/Shadow Sneak
    -Poison Jab
    -Brick Break/Protect/Mean Look
    252 HP, 124 Atk, 124 Sp.Def, 4 Def

Sub-Punch Explosion Muk @Muscle Band/Black Sludge (To your preference)
    Adamant Nature
    Sticky Hold Ability
    -Substitute
    -Focus Punch
    -Poison Jab
    -Explosion
    252 Atk, 252 HP, 4 Sp.Def

Honestly, I don't see why Muk is UU; it can do practically anything that you want it to. These are just a couple of sets that I came up with. Might eventually replace my Clefable with one of these sets.

Curse Muk Curses up to gain attack boosts and Defense boosts, and with an already good Special Defense and high HP, it can be pretty amazing. You can Mean Look a pokemon that is virtually harmless to you (such as a grass, bug, or poison pokemon, or a wall) and then Curse up against it. You can choose Protect for Leftovers gain over Mean Look, or even Brick Break for coverage, especially of Rock types, which typically learn Ground moves (Earthquake being the most obvious example) and Steel types, who resist Ghost moves and are immune to poison moves. Choose Shadow Sneak for priority against Psychics and Ghosts, or Shadow Punch for the never-miss move (and more power).

Sub-Punch Muk is most effectively used when you scare away an opponent, and use that turn to set up your Substitute. It hardly matters what the opponent switches in to, as you have Focus Punch, a good STAB move, and Explosion (if necessary) at your disposal. Gunk Shot can replace Poison Jab if you desire power over Accuracy. You can also use Shadow Punch in the last slot for coverage or Return if you dislike Kamikaze tactics. Claydol seems to be the most apparent threat to this set, and watch out for Drifblim (and other Ghosts) if you don't have Shadow Punch.

    Tobi wrote:

It's decided by usage. "UU" literally means "Under Used" Pokemon. It doesn't mean "weak" or anything like that, it simply means Pokemon that aren't used as much Smile.

Ubers = Pokemon too over-centralizing/too strong for the standard metagame. The banned list, basically.

OU= The most popular Pokemon, the "standards".

BL= Borderline Pokemon. Pokemon that aren't used as much as OUs but are too strong for UU play. It's UU's banned list (like Ubers is to OU).

UU= The lesser used Pokemon. A metagame with the purpose of using different kinds of Pokemon and breaking away from the OU standards. Since the point is to use the "under used" Pokemon, if a Pokemon becomes too popular or over-centralizing it gets banned to BL (and eventually may reach OU status).

NU= Never Used. These are the under used Pokemon of UU. In other words, these Pokemon don't see much use even in the UU metagame. The NU tier for D/P hasn't been decided yet but it will eventually be it's own metagame where only NU Pokemon are allowed.

Hope this clears some stuff up for you guys. Maybe I should have a sticky somewhere...there seems to be confusion over what the tiers mean exactly.

^That's quite the idealogical way to put it.

A lot of it is still based on stats, and move-pools.

OU's are OU because they work.

BL's are way harder to seperate from OU's. Some can perform amazingly in OU. Some re just being kept out of UU.

and UU's are usually UU because of inferior stats, or horrid move-pools.

Actually, it's just that you're obviously not going to see usage of Pokemon with poor stats, which is why they're UU/NU.
