Standing, Feign gave his throbbing leg a shake, instantly regretting it and muffling a gasp, hissing between his teeth. The wound burned around where the arrow had struck, and he proceeded to shovle up handfuls of snow, holding it against the wound and rubbing it in to melt and hopefully clean out any infection.
"The way I see it, they either got lost in the blizzard, or we've got more of those men snapping at our haunches, and the rest of us were caught in the ambush. If they wanted all of us surrounded, then there had to have been more behind us, waiting to flank us from all sides."
Feign plugged one ear and focused the other to his South, back along the trail he had come, but could only make out the howling of the winds which now seemed to sting and lash at his face with their cold, unforgiving fury.
"We could go back and check...?"
