Re: Is Platinum Broken...?
Speaking of sandwich, I can taste that bitter saltiness of spam sandwiches about this thread.
I think Platinum is really pulling the Pokemon franchise towards the more hardcore market.
Now more pokemon are viable threats, there should generally be more variety overall in the battling arena. It is, however, fading from the original style of the Pokemon games. Being more geared towards a larger pokemon selection means that 'catching them all' is a thing of the past as not many pokemon are truly unique. Playing Platinum will undoubtedly feel pretty dull, just because the actual single player experience is being stripped down to make room for the competitive game.

Re: Is Platinum Broken...?
Everything you JUST SAID I disagree with.
Pokemon is not hardcore, until we see a Charzard bite off a Caterpees face.
When you have 493 pokemon, most of whcih are diffret, it makes it fun. Yea, you have quite a few with high attack, high speed, and low defs, but the hp and ability, as well as the moves, makes almost every pokemon diffrent.
Playing the game will be fun, then, after we beat it, we will make teams only for battleing online. The same as D/P.

Re: Is Platinum Broken...?
Tobi.
Hardcore doesn't mean tits and violence. Redneck definition is wrong here.
It's hardcore because of the amount of time you can waste just perfecting one pokeyman. "Hardcore gaming" is usually defined as a type of gaming that you have to devote a /lot/ of time to.
Also, from a competitive battling standpoint, less than 200 are usable, and quite a few of them share similar enough stats and move-pools that there are pokeymanz that aren't highly used because they're overshadowed by another similar one that does the job slightly, or quite a bit better. (Blaziken's fall in use due to Infernape, for example)
Also, Tobi, he was talking about pokeymanz in general, as an evolving game, not just D/P/Pt.

Re: Is Platinum Broken...?
I use Blaziken, not that fag of a pokemon Infernape.
While some have the same stats, the typing, as well as peoples likes, dislikes, and random pokemons-like Machamp-make the game fun.

Re: Is Platinum Broken...?
Maybe, but your argument of each one of the 493 being viable, and prone to high use and variety doesn't work out too well.
XD
Also, Infernape is nice. >_>

Re: Is Platinum Broken...?
Infernape is teh gaymon.
I just mean like... well think back to Red/Blue. When you first got Mewtwo, how freakin godlike did you feel? Now everyone and their mum has a Mewtwo. The specialness of each individual pokemon is being lost due to the fact that everyone seems to have access to all of them easily. The sense of achievement after hunting down a rare pokemon is nullified.
Classic example is when I spent about 3 or 4 horus trying to get a Chimecho on Ruby, then they release D/P and Chimecho is as easy to get as a Caterpie. I know it's not exactly the same, but you can get a sense of the situation.
