    This is the Bill of Rights that has been proposed to the staff. Most of it is pretty much set in stone at this point, but if you see any horrible errors, please comment. It's pretty basic right now, so we need to iron out the details.

    For example, on the Dojo part, we should define "quick responding". Should that mean responding within a couple days or a week?

    I am posting this here so that you guys can all voice your opinions and add to it, but don't turn it into a flame war and only post things that will actually be useful. The moment that this thread starts to go off topic, I'll have to close it.

    Shuten Dojo Members' Bill of Rights

    1 - Speech
    Members have the right to voice their opinions, assuming said opinions isn't against the profanity rules (PG-13 assumption,) harassment, or to purposefully offend/hurt someone (in an obvious fashion.)

    2. - Rule Enforcement
    Members have the right to have the rules enforced as they are supposed to be, as said in the rules.. Each punishment was decided based on the severity of the offense, so they're reasonable punishments.
    -Members are also able to enact a grandfather clause(see definitions for further info)

    3. - Staff
    Members have the right to have a mature staff, at least age 16(or has proven maturity enough to handle staff responsibilities), that lacks conflicts of interests, and is competent and fast to respond.

    4. - Forums
    Members have the right to a well maintained set of forums, that mostly lack spam, and general pleasantries, so as to attract more members to make a more lively forum.

    5. - Dojos
    Members have the right to quick responding and courteous Dojo members and leaders.

    Definitions will be placed here after they have been defined.

    How 'bout a Recruit rule? That the recruits have to stay for a certain amount of time, and stay active and post? Otherwise they've been recruited and can just leave.

    Racism falls under flaming (against the rules, already taken care of)

    Bitching goes under free speech immediately, if it's not against the rules, it's allowed.

    @Shade: That seems to be more of a staff decision in rules, not a member right.

    15 + 50 = 65. Divide by 2, and you get 32 point something

    Well, inactivity would have to be defined by separate things.

    Say, they fail to respond to a challenge within 48 hours without any reason why. That'd be inactive for their purpose of being a dojo member/sensei, and should get a warning.

    If they fail to respond within a week without reason, then they should be fired.


    Also, general activity, like being on at least a couple times a week, and all that.

    My biggest problem is sudden edits without any discussion concerning them on the thread.

    If you have a point to make, make it here, as that what this is for.

    Also, the point of the Grandfather Clause in the rule enforcement area eludes me.
