it involes the GTS I got a lot of shineys by cloneing the same charizard over and over again...
I actually don't use the GTS method, as it's rather unsafe (people can steal your Pokemon sometimes...happened to Ryu a couple times, though it never mattered). Plus, I'm paranoid about the GTS since I was there when my original Diamond erased itself XD.
The method that Tobi and I are referring to (I think) is the AR code which involves the PC boxes. You need to have good timing, otherwise your game might freeze (not a huge deal, really). It's kinda a pain to me, mostly because you're only getting one clone at a time. The code itself is actually really dangerous, but only if used improperly (you should ONLY clone while using it, don't do anything else).
