Because I'm using a Super Rod, I add 5 to that value, which brings it to 16.

16 is Goldeen, who requires a chain of 3.

Since this was an example, the thread assumes you already know how to do that from other tutorials. Sorry about that! You seem to have figured it out but for future reference to other people:

[roll="Attack"]*[/roll]

Remove the asterisk and put in the amount of dice =).

Alternatively, you can click the button that looks like a die (bottom row) but that only shows up in actual replies, not new threads or quick replies.
