Re: The definition of EV
Yes.
In fact, I've made threads of it.
Lets start with stats.
There are 500 some evs, and you can put them into your stats to make then higher.
255 max in each stat.
You get evs by beating pokemon, different pokemon give different evs to different stats.

Power items add four extra EVs to its stat at the end of battle- for instance, Power Weight adds 4 EVs to HP at the end of every battle.Fujin-kun wrote:Does the Power Anklets help in having EV in speed?
Also, don't EVER put 255 EVs in a stat, because only ever FOUR EVs makes a point- 4 EVs is one point in a stat. So, if you give a Pokemon 252 EVs in Atk (the highest number of EVs you can put into one stat that's divisible by four), then by the time they're level 100, they'll have acquired some 63 extra points in that stat.
I could never properly use the Power Items myself. I prefer to use a Macho Brace.
Also, Vitamins make EV training easier- you can put 10 Vitamins into a single stat for a total of 100 EVs (ten per Vitamin). For instance, ONE Carbos gives the selected Pokemon 10 EVs in Spd. So if you need 252 EVs in Spd, you give 'em ten Carbos, and now they only need 152 EVs in Spd, almost cutting your work time in HALF. :3
But yeah, Serebii.net has a pretty good guide somewhere on EV Training. http://serebii.net/games/evs.shtml
It's a lot of reading though. XD;
