Re: Prayers for Bobby
I'm just saying that considering how badly Germany was off, nearly anyone of formidable intelligence could do what Hitler did. Think about it, what is the one major way to boost economic growth? War. It unites a nation, produces jobs, and gives people a sense that they are a part of something bigger than themselves, that their job in the factory making weaponry to mow down the opposition is contributing to the glory of their nation. This doesn't apply to our war of course, because not only are we a nation that imports all of our raw materials rather than create it here, it is a war where there is no enemy, terror is an intangible that will forever exist as long as there is religious fanaticism. But I digress.
And on that note, to invoke a war, you need an enemy. The fact that after WW1 Britain, France, and America left Germany to rot rather than help rebuild her obviously left a bitter taste in the mouths of Germans, but that's far too precocious for the moment, to take on the western world as they were would be laughably stupid. So Hitler did the obvious thing and singled out all the dissenters within their society. The Jews, the gypsies, the homosexuals, the mentally handicapped, and labeled them as the reason for the Germans plight. And when you're quite literally using your currency that is now worthless to stoke the fire on your stove for something to eat, I would say it's not difficult to begin believing anything a strong, charismatic man tells you. Hitler at best was an amazing puppetmaster, and the Germans at the time were all too willing to hand him their strings. That doesn't make a great man, that makes a man who has no qualms taking the "evil" route to attain what he wants. Hell, there are a myriad of ways to get out of this worldwide recession at the moment, but most involve alienating or harming someone.
As for Hitler attacking America, he probably wouldn't, so long as we follow his lead with a smile on our faces. After all, this is the man quoted to saying, "Any alliance whose purpose is not the intention to wage war is senseless and useless" , and "Demoralize the enemy from within by surprise, terror, sabotage, assassination. This is the war of the future." The moment America would decide to decry the things he has done, and undoubtedly would still be doing, is the moment when Hitler would begin his assault. And it would not be a ridiculous attempt at a coup sending in all his troops to America, he was not a stupid man. He would come in through Mexico, Canada, the Pacific, the Atlantic, and corrode things slowly. His goal was always to make Germany the superpower, and dominated anyone who got in the way of his goals. He was simply using the Germans as efficient means to achieve his own ends, this is the guy who historians believe was an atheist while he appealed to the religious types by alluding so often to christianity and being protected by God himself, he did everything in his power to have things go his way.

Africa was pretty much already raped by Europe with its infamous colonization legacies.
Damn Europeans.

Just like Native Americans. They suffered enough, man, just leave them be. We've already seen what happens when the government steps in to try and "improve" peoples' lives.Ninja wrote:Flying Spaghetti Monster wrote:Ya, there's ton of oil and gold and diamonds in Africa.

I am going to devote the rest of my life to constructing a time machine, go back to when your mother is six months pregnant with you, and punch her in the taint.

Wait, what. The time machine thing, or the Venasaur thing, you could have just quoted one or the other, rather than confuse me into not being able to consider a retort.
