How the Safari Zone Works Empty How the Safari Zone Works

Post by Sasami Tue Dec 02, 2008 4:17 pm

The Safari Zone is a place where you can catch wild Profile Pokemon, but it's set up a little differently. Instead of searching for them, I will simply make a thread and you will have to battle the Pokemon in order to capture it.

Each thread will state the Pokemon, and then a range of damage that you must deal in order to catch it. You may not deal more OR less damage...it needs to be in the correct range. More common Pokemon will have larger ranges of acceptable damage, while the rarest Pokemon may require you to deal an exact amount.

Your Pokemon's abilities can still come into play--each Pokemon thread will say whether or not the wild Pokemon is using a special attack or a regular attack, as well as other pieces of information you might need. Lowering the wild Pokemon's attack power won't help in most cases, though.

You will battle just like you would against another person. State your Pokemon, what kind of attack you'll be using, and then roll the die. Add up damage--if you dealt the right amount, congrats! PM an admin to receive your Pokemon. If you didn't get the correct amount, you'll need to wait at least 24 hours before challenging the same Pokemon. In the meantime, however, other members may try to catch the Pokemon themselves.

Attacks that have "set" damage (aka attacks that don't allow you to roll the die and have no other modifiers) are banned in the Safari Zone. Celebi's Special Attack is also banned.

EDIT: You may only catch one Pokemon a day in the Safari Zone, and Pokemon will not gain experience here.

"After typing the above information, you must
click the icon that looks like a die, called "Dice Roll". This icon
isn't visible when making a quick post below the thread, you must
actually click the "Reply" option to go into the advanced posting mode.
There should be only one dice option, called "Attack". Click on it."

Actually, this confused me at first, too.

It's an advanced post option, or just used the code. (with no spaces)

    Code:
    [roll="Attack"] [/roll]

Well, if we had them gain experience, it would just be 5 points no matter what, like normal battles.

Sorry to double-post, but there have been two additions to the rules:

-Pokemon will NOT gain experience in the Safari Zone.

-You may only catch one Safari Zone Pokemon a day.

Yup. Just from here, though. And some challenges, but the challenge will say so in the description if that's the case. The reason is because the rarer Pokemon have an exact damage amount you have to hit, and using Pokemon with set attacks makes it way too easy.
