About a week ago I started a Nuzlocke run in Pokemon Sapphire (my reasoning for choosing a Hoenn game was because Nuzlocke runs for GSC are HARD and I'm bored with Kanto at this point, lol, so no FR/LG...I chose Sapphire out of the three because I never owned it).
For those of you unfamiliar with the Nuzlocke challenge, here are the rules:
1. If your Pokemon faints you must release it as soon as possible (the Pokemon is "dead").
2. If all of your Pokemon faint, start over.
3. You must nickname every Pokemon you catch.
4. You may only attempt to capture the first Pokemon you see in each unique area (routes, caves, etc.). If you don't get it, tough luck.
There are also a number of optional rules and here are the ones I'm playing by:
5. If a Pokemon with an HM move faints, you can't use them for that HM. In other words, if you get stuck without any non-fainted Pokemon who can learn an HM needed to progress, start over.
6. You can't catch the same species of Pokemon twice (no duplicates, too boring).
Even though I've already been playing for a week, I figured I'd post here and there about my progress. I'm doing well but am so scared for the E4, hahaha.
I'll update the following as I progress and post updates (such as gym battles) separately:
Current "main" Pokemon:
"Kip" the Marshtomp (Lvl.31, Route 101)
"Houdini" the Kadabra (Lvl.24, Granite Cave)
"Wyrm" the Beautifly (Lvl.25, Route 104)
"Ziggy" the Linoone (Lvl.22, Petalburg Woods)
"Koiqueen" the Gyarados (Lvl.25, Dewford Town)
"Sensei" the Machoke (Lvl.31, Route 112)
Pokemon that are also trained and used in certain
situations/gyms:
"Nom" the Gulpin (Lvl.18, Route 110)
"Lil'Oink" the Spoink (in Daycare, Jagged Pass)
"Phoebe" the Numel (Lvl.26, Route 111)
"Cutey-pie" the Grimer (Lvl.25, Fiery Pass)
"Cactuar" the Cacnea (in Daycare, Desert)
Un-used Pokemon:
"Dizzy" the Spinda (Lvl.15, Route 113)
"Repiv" the Seviper (Lvl.16, Route 114)
"Sparkle" the Volbeat (Lvl.13, Route 117)
RIP:
"Ninja" the Nincada (Lvl.7, Route 104?) {Slaughtered by a critical hit while training. Whismur are evil.}
