Re: PS3 Slim
May want to go with the "fat" PS3, just because Sony is notorious for having its first batch of whatever new system it has released have some critical error.
Of course, it's not anywhere near as bad as lolexbawkz and its 54.2% rate of failure, so as long as you warranty that shit, the slim shouldn't be a bad purchase.

Re: PS3 Slim
I might actually get one now!
But then I see that the 360 and the PSP have much better libraries and I'm like "lolwuteva"

Re: PS3 Slim
Yeah.
And everything is coming out Q1 2010 now anyway.
Except for the new Kingdom Hearts, Scribblenauts and Mario & Luigi 3.

Re: PS3 Slim
So the system with the worst library can suck it, I have my DS.
I find it situationally ironic that the hand held system most people expected to under perform has the best game library this gen by a mile.

Re: PS3 Slim
PS3 has some pretty good games now, which is more than can be said for my Wii.
Of course, I'm a huge RPGfag, so as long as the X-Box and Wii apparently forget that such a genre exists, PS3 begrudgingly wins by default.

Super Mario Galaxy > everything on the PS3.
The new FF dev team is really kind of sucky.

Re: PS3 Slim
SMG is one of the best games of all time, as a general consensus.
WiiWare also has FFCC - My Life as a King/Darkload, FFIV: The After Years with a ton of episodes, and the DS probably has the biggest RPG line up this gen... so Nintendo actually wins for RPGs, the way I see it.
I'd get a 360 if anything at this point, there are actually a few games I'm interested in on it.

Re: PS3 Slim
I loved the Mario games back when I was like six years old and playing it on the original Nintendo, but I haven't enjoyed that shit since Mario 64, the fat Italian did not transition well into 3D for me.
Either that or I just grew out of that particular genre, I can only play FIGHTAN GAEMZ and RPGs where you kill wildlife for three hours.
On that note, I am so fucking waiting for Final Fantasy 14, considering I managed to enjoy the grinding simulator that was 11, I'm sure they won't disappoint me too much.

Re: PS3 Slim
360 has Tales of Vesperia, Resonance of Fate (which looks awesome), and it's going to get a port of Final Fantasy XIII...and it's cheaper than the PS3.
I'm sure there's a game or two for the 360 that I forgot...but yeah.

Re: PS3 Slim
Vesperia is getting a PS3 port in September, with a hell of a lot of add-ons for the year wait. Final Fantasy Versus XIII is still PS3 exclusive, but I couldn't care less about that shit, aside from the MMORPG XIV. With how mediocre FFXII was(Yes, I so went there), I'm not exactly waiting with bated breath for XIII. Maybe they'll surprise everyone though.

Re: PS3 Slim
XII wasn't really too great.
The loot system was beyond retarded and the accessories can totally break the game, along with the "LOL YOU OPENED THIS TOTALLY FUCKING RANDOM TREASURE CHEST, SAY BYE TO THE BEST WEAPON," bullshit.

Re: PS3 Slim
All right. Skimmed through the thread, let me add you my words of advice:
PS3:
1. The PS3's got some interesting games out or coming out. Demon's Soul, Kill Zone 2, Little Big Planet, etc...
2. I literally got one the second I saw the price drop. I'm enjoying it, but my Wii and 360 will probably see more playtime.
3. Most of the PS3 games you can get, you can get on either the 360 AND the PS3 or all 3 consoles. However, the exclusives tend to be awesome.
360:
1. I had mine die once. I fixed it and upgraded the parts myself. Now it's a beast (loud as hell, but is rarely hot). It DOES have a 50% fail rate. Out side of that, probably my favorite current generation system.
2. Online play/service is unmatched, bar none. Yes, you have to pay $50 *a year*, but that's paying for updates, patches, bug fixes and active banning of cheating d-bags (like "hax" and modded controllers).
3. The library is good. Great at best. But most of the games for the console are shooters. Unless you're into CRAPPY ones, you'll probably play Gears Of War 1-2, Call Of Duty: World at War and some of the earlier shooter gems for this. Not to say other genres don't get love to, but clearly the 360 is aimed at meat-heats who think in-game killing is "1337".
I'm sure most of you have/had a Wii. I don't need to say much about it... However, I have modified mine to play Japanese games. Monster Hunter 3 has got to be the most beautiful game for the system... It makes Brawl and Legend of Zelda look like crap. And well, they're both pretty games.
