Wiccan is the religion of choice for socially retarded preteens/teens who want to "rebel against the norm", but still believe there is a higher power. Odds are that if you meet a Wiccan, they will have some trait that diverges from social norms, it's the religion of choice for loners and deviants.

I won't be so short-sighted and ignorant to say that ALL are like this, but the majority, or the most vocal about it, fit that description. You'd be fucking amazed at how many people with e-diagnosed Asperger's/Multiple Personality Disorder/Paranoid Schizophrenia/Dissociative Personality Disorder/Anorexia/Some Other Fucking Emo Disease that likes anime/likes comics/likes pokeymanz/likes Mudkip/is gay/likes My Chemical Romance/has no friends in real life/Thirty-Four Years Old and Still Collects My Little Pony Dolls are also Wiccan or some other Pagan branch-off, the entirety of that religion has become a breeding ground for the dregs of society.

The teachings may be one of the better ones in terms of religion, but no one is going to take it seriously when fucking eleven year old Susie who weighs 160 lbs, watches yaoi, wears a pentagram necklace, and her only real friend according to her is her fucking Neopet that she's raised for the past three years named Suzume or some shit is preaching about it.

I know I've just never met such a dumb atheist before .. there usually very well read and educated people that can actually debate with out calling names...

Considering I'm an atheist and find all religions to be just a bit on the ludicrous side, I'm not exactly going to go out of my way to correct people in thinking a religion is creepy. Why should I push the agenda of something I don't even believe in? Sure I said the teachings are pretty good, better than a lot of others, but they're also things that if you're strong enough you can accomplish on your own, not by casting spells and shit. You know there's this new soft science called "Psychology" that really delves into what Wiccans call spell casting. It's nothing more than a placebo effect you've instilled upon yourself to motivate you, you could've accomplished those things without being a level forty-five Warlock.

Not quite sure what you're getting at with promoting the kids to that religion though. As I've pointed out, I find them to be the worst type of religious fanatic, merely because they don't know what the hell they are talking about. I've always felt that even if you believe in something that defies all logic and common sense, you should at least know about it extensively, and they severely disappoint in that aspect. Whenever one of them pipes up and says something just mind numbingly stupid, I'm always there to correct their stupidity, and post a link to Last Measure disguised as a source.
